Tutorial 4- Fast Editing with [Draw Logic as Truths, Auto]

Tutorial 4

The [Draw Logic as Truths, Auto] mode is the same as the [Draw Logic as Truths] except the Xsudo will auto complete links when truths are entered. If the logic detects any eliminations, Xsudo will automatically remove links that are not required for the eliminations.

On startup, the currently selected puzzle file is xsudon.sud, which is the default puzzle file.  This file contains the tutorials and a few other examples. This file is normally used as a working or scratch pad file and cannot be erased.

Open the Tutorial 4 Puzzle

·        Click the right tab of the puzzle list in the toolbar.............

·        Scroll up and click on the puzzle called Tutorial 4.

·        Click on the load puzzle icon  to the right.

Tutorial 4-A

Tutorial 4A shows how to enter a short ALS chain quickly.

Go to the [XSUDO] menu at the top and select  [Draw Logic as Truths, Auto].

In cell r8c4 , left click the digit 1 to select the digit, and then left click the digit 6 (or 8) to place a cell truth with all 3 candidates.

Repeat the same for cells r8c6 and r8c9. Light red transparent row links will appear as more cell truths are placed. This is the first ALS.

Now, repeat the same (place cell truths) for cells r6c5, r7c5, r8c5, and r9c5. This places the second ALS and completes the logic. Several eliminations will appear. Xsudo will recognize the logic as an ALS-XZ Rule, double-link.

Tutorial 4-B

Tutorial 4-B is the same puzzle as tutorial 4A but has a short ALS + AHS chain.

Repeat the same  procedure from 4A to place 3 cell truths in cells r8c469 to make the ALS. These cells are highlighted red.

The AHS in column 5 is made of 3 column truths. Column truths are entered the same way as cell truths by clicking 2 candidates in the same column (but not in the same cell).

Left click the digit 2 in r2c5 to select the digit. Then left click the digit 2 in r6c5 to place the (dark green) column truth. A light brown box link will appear superimposed on the green column truth. (Note, the digits are marked with a dark blue marker cross at the top left for the ease of the tutorial)

Now repeat the same procedure to place column truths 8c5 and 9c5 by sequentially clicking the marked digits 8 in column 5, and then the marked digits 9 in column 5.

The full AHS will appear connected to the ALS along with the eliminations.

Now go to tutorial 1, which provides more details about editing.
